Aptoide Connect is a software developed by Aptoide S.A. ("Aptoide"), a company with ID 509987184 and principal place of business is at Rua Soeiro Pereira Gomes, Lote 1, 3D, 1649-031 Lisboa, and its registered office is at Rua Fernanda Seno n. 6, 7005-484, Évora, Portugal which allows the distribution of products in the Aptoide App Store and other Apps distribution channels.
Aptoide respects your privacy and is committed to be clear and transparent about the way it processes information about you while you're using Aptoide Connect Services (Aptoide Connect Website, Aptoide Connect Software and Aptoide Connect Blog).
In this document we will explain what cookies are, which cookies we use and why we use them.
At any moment, you can use the opt-out mechanisms made available to you in our cookie banner or you can set your browser to accept or reject new cookies or to deactivate cookies already installed in your computer or mobile device. This action could retrieve on an unsatisfying use of the websites.
1. What is a cookie
A cookie is a small file placed onto your device that enables Aptoide features and functionality. For example, cookies enable us to make the websites work as you expect it; to identify your device; secure your access to your Aptoide account, and our sites generally, and even help us know if someone attempts to access your account from a different device. Cookies also enable you to easily share content.
2. When does Aptoide place cookies?
We use cookies on our websites (such as connect.aptoide.com). Any browser visiting these sites will receive cookies from us and, where applicable, help us serve relevant ads to you.
3. How Aptoide uses cookies
Cookies can be used to recognize you when you use Aptoide Connect Services, remember your preferences, and give you a personalized experience that's in line with your settings. Cookies also make your interactions with Aptoide faster and more secure.
4. Types of cookies used by Aptoide Connect
We use different types of cookies:
- First Party Cookies: Cookies placed by Aptoide. These cookies may be session cookies and persistent cookies.
- Third Party Cookies: Cookies placed by a third party (including, for example, providers of external services like web traffic analysis services) in Aptoide Connect websites, over which we have no control. These cookies are likely to be analytical/performance cookies. These cookies may be session cookies and persistent cookies.
- Session Cookies: These cookies only last for as long as the session (usually the current visit to a website or a browser session) and are used by the server to store information about user page activities so users can easily pick up where they left off on the server's pages. These cookies tell the server what pages to show the user so the user doesn't have to remember or start navigating the site all over again. This type of cookie act as a sort of "bookmark" within the site.
- Persistent Cookies: These cookies are employed to store your preferences (for example, the language you prefer) and to help us recognize you as an existing user, so it's easier to return to Aptoide Connect or interact with our services without signing in again. After you sign in, a persistent cookie stays in your browser and will be read by Aptoide when you return to one of our sites or a partner site that uses our services.
5. Google Consent Mode
We use 'Google Consent Mode', a web service provided by Google Ireland Limited ('Google'), based at Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.
Google Consent Mode allows us and Google to honour your choices regarding Cookies and similar technologies made through our cookie banner or our cookie configurator.
Only if you have given your consent to the use of the respective categories of Cookies will we place and transfer Cookies to and from the Google tools described in the respective category (e.g. Google Analytics and Google Ads). These Cookies may, depending on the type of Cookies, be read by Google, for example, to report conversions in Google Ads.
If the User does not give their consent, we will inform Google so that no Cookie or third-party Cookie is set and/or transferred by or to Google services. This will be done by sending 'pings' that indicate to Google's servers that a User has not given their consent.
In addition to the 'denied' information, i.e. the rejection of consent, these consent status pings may also include: the date and time stamp, the User's browser operator (web only) and referrer, an indication of whether or not the current or previous page of the User's browsing on our Website included information on clicks on adverts in the URL, information on consent status, a random number generated on each page load.
This is necessary so that all the Google products we use respect your choice and do not place Cookies or collect information through Cookies placed in your browser. As usual, the IP address will be collected but discarded at Google's next server point, usually in the European Union (hereinafter 'EU') if you are visiting our Website from the EU (unless you use a VPN or proxy).
6. Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics, a web service provided by Google Ireland Limited ('Google'), based at Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.
To this end, we use cookies which will be stored on your device and which collect anonymous information about your use of our website, such as how often you visit our website, how long you spend on it and how you interact with the respective websites (for example, whether you have bought or searched for something on them). The information collected by cookies about your use of our website is usually transferred to a Google server in the USA and stored there. However, your IP address will be shortened before any further transfer by Google in the Member States of the European Union or in other Contracting States of the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases will the full IP address be transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there. We guarantee the appropriate level of data protection for this data transfer through the conclusion of standard contractual clauses, approved by the European Commission.
Google will use this information on our behalf in order to analyse your use of the Website, to provide reports on website activities (such as loading times, etc.) and to provide us with other services related to website and internet usage. We will use this information and reports to improve our website. Google may also transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law or where such third parties process the information on Google's behalf. Google will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google.
We use Cross Device Tracking, a mode of operation of Google Analytics that allows data, sessions and interactions across multiple devices to be attributed to a pseudonymous user, thus enabling us to analyse a user's activities across multiple devices. This includes the 'Google Signals' feature, which allows us to add Google demographic information about you (e.g. age, gender, interests) at an aggregated level to Google Analytics. However, this only occurs if you have logged in to a Google service when visiting our website and at the same time have activated the 'personalised advertising' option in your Google account settings. In any case, no personal data or user profiles become accessible to us, i.e. they remain anonymous to us.
We use the Google Analytics ads feature, a mode of operation of Google Analytics, which allows us to collect information on the performance of our campaigns through Google Ads cookies and receive the respective demographic information, if the user has consented to the use of Google Ads cookies.
Data sent by us and related to cookies, user identifiers (e.g. user ID) or advertising IDs is automatically deleted after 14 months. Data whose retention period has been reached is automatically deleted once a month.
Aptoide also uses Google's 'Consent Mode Modelling', i.e. if you consent to the use of performance and statistics cookies, we use a Java script that collects information about the browser and operating system you are using, the time of day, the country and the context of the event, such as the name of the event, the location of the page, the page reference and the title of the page. This information is used to model aggregate user numbers, session numbers and potential conversion numbers through machine learning. The user's IP address is dropped at the nearest regional entry point, which may be within the EU, depending on the user's location and/or use of a VPN.
This allows us to measure events without using cookies and collecting too much information. The information we collect is transferred to Google (after the IP address has been deleted, as described above) and is only added to a dataset if there have been at least 700 clicks on adverts in a seven-day period. The data will then be used to model event data based on Google's previous experience with Analytics data.
In any case, we will respect your decision and will only collect and use this information for modelling if you have given your consent.
You can withdraw your consent by changing your personal settings in our cookie banner.
You can also prevent Google from collecting data generated by cookies and related to your use of our website by downloading and installing the browser plug-in available at the following link: https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. An opt-out cookie is set that prevents future collection of your data when you visit our pages: Deactivate Google Analytics.
To prevent Google Analytics from collecting data on different devices, you should opt out of all the systems used. If you do not wish to use 'Google Signals', you can also deactivate the 'personalised advertising' option in your Google account settings.
7. Google Ads
As users of Google Ads, we use Google Conversion Tracking. This service is provided by Google Ireland Limited ('Google'), with registered offices at Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland.
Google Ads is used to display our advertising pages in its advertising space. If you access our website via a Google advertisement, Google Ads installs cookies in your browser on our behalf ('conversion cookie'). These cookies expire in 30 days. These cookies are not used for personal identification, nor do they allow us to track your actions through adverts or websites other than our own. If the cookies do not expire when you visit our website, we and Google can see that someone has clicked on the advert and been redirected to our page. The information collected by conversion cookies is used to create conversion statistics for us. However, we do not receive any information that can identify you individually.
If you do not want to participate in the tracking process, you can refuse the setting of the cookie required for this purpose - for example, through a browser setting that generally deactivates the automatic setting of cookies. You can also disable cookies by setting your browser to block cookies from the 'googleadservices.com' domain or manage cookies set by us or on our behalf in your settings.
We also use Google Ads Remarketing which allows us to use cookies to analyse your visits to our pages and serve you ads based on your actions and behaviour on our website. Google will use this information to evaluate your use of our website, compile reports on website activity for us, and serve adverts according to our specifications. We do not collect any personal information with our cookies and remarketing lists.
If you still do not want to use Google's remarketing function, you can deactivate it directly in our cookie configurator by setting the marketing cookies accordingly. Alternatively, you can deactivate the use of cookies by visiting the Network Advertising Initiative's cookie deactivation page or by managing the use of cookies via your browser. The information stored about your data can be found by accessing the advertising specifications. 9. Controlling cookies
Our cookie banner allows you to manage the type of Cookies that are used on the website when you use it. If you do not wish to use certain Cookies, you can activate or deactivate them at any time on our cookie banner by clicking on the boxes provided for this purpose.
Most browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings preferences. However, if you limit the ability of websites to set cookies, you may worsen your overall user experience, since it will no longer be personalized to you. It may also stop you from saving customized settings like login information.
10. What to do if you don't want cookies to be set or want them to be removed?
We make available a cookie bar in our website that allows you to choose which cookies are installed in your device.
